Thailand is a tropical paradise in Southeast asia mainly featuring buddhist culture,for well over a thousand years Thailand was named as Siam,a sanskrit word, which literally meant 'A COUNTRY IN SOUTHEAST ASIA' until on 23rd June 1939 it was replaced with Thailand.the word thai means 'FREE'.This home to 76 provinces and more than 68 million people is a jewel of Asia .Here is the country at a glance.
A look into THAI culture
Much of the Thai culture come from ethnic Thai People..one of the most important influence on Thai culture has been bhuddism.The culture of nearby Laos,Cambodia,and china has also played an important role in forming the tradition of Thailand.
HERITAGE SITES:Thailand also known as the LAND OF SMILES is a jewel of southeast Asia. As mentioned before Buddhism has a major influence on Thai culture and therefore one can find numerous buddhist temples in the country.Along with Buddhist reflections, Elephants are thought to be closely related to Thai culture.Statues depicting Elephants made of various materials including gold ,are present at various places in the Country. One of the major heritage sites of Thailand is THE GRAND PALACE ,BANGKOK which features numerous articles of previous era,most of the articles are made of precious metal -Gold. Among other Heritage sites are the temples in Chiang Mai,The white Temple etc.
ETHNIC GROUPS AND LANGUAGE:Some countries offer haven to more than 100 languages, but today we are talking about a country famous for its tropical beauty rather than diversified communication.The official and the national language of Thailand is Siamese which is understood by pretty much the whole masses .As many as 74 languages can be counted in the country in total.Unlike Siamese most of them are spoken in specific areas of the country.
Thailand is pretty diversified in terms of Ethnic groups ,according to a report by Royal Thai Government there are 70 Ethnic groups in the country out of which Central Thai people alone make up around 34 percent of the country's population.Others include Akha people,Isan people,Lawa people etc. Main religion of the majority is Buddhism although others are also practiced freely.
TRADITIONAL FOOD:In Thailand ,people are intrested in traditional food-- the thai cusine.On top of all Tom Yumm Goong ,Som Tum, Tom Kha Kai, Pad Thai, Khao pad, Gaeng keow wan kai are some of the famous dishes of the country.

Finally the part where the popularity of Thailand lies .Thailand is among a few paradises in Asia that offeres an otherworldly experience of clear blue waters at a sunny day.After Buddhist temples,and grand palace the most favourite places hit by tourists in Thailand are the Tropical Beaches and Resorts.There are over 8000 islands dominated by Thailand and some of them such as Phuket, Koh Phi Phi etc are famous all over the globe.Every year a large number of tourists and locals flock the widespead coastline of over 2000 miles, for not only Relaxation but also for sports including, Scuba Diving, Jet Skiing, kite surfing, Snorkling etc. Which are an exciting beauty of these resorts.
One of the most peculiar beaches here is the MONKEY BEACH where a festival is held every year in the honour of monkeys.
7FUN FACTS:Almost all the countries have some fun facts but the facts about Thailand are unique and show thier love for animals and thier traditions.
1- Every year there is a festival dedicated to monkeys only...And a separate island have been allocated for the event. 2- The only country in Southeast Asia which has never been colonised under Europian rule. 3- All men used to be bhuddist monks . 4- Red bull,famous energy drink has its roots in thailand. 5- World's number one orchid exporter.And is home to about 1500 species of Orchids. 6- It is home to Maeklong Railway market where a train passes through a busy market each day. 7-It is one of the few countries to home Floating Markets.
